Chiropractic physicians are experts in caring for neuromusculoskeletal conditions. This means that doctors of chiropractic are not just “back doctors,” as we provide therapy for most of the body’s aches and pains. At Harmony Chiropractic Center, we do treat neck and low back pain, but we also treat shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle problems as well. The following is a list of some conditions that can be helped with chiropractic care:
· Arthritis
· Carpal Tunnel
· Headaches (Migraine, Tension, etc.)
· Numbness and Tingling
· Pinched Nerves
· Repetitive Motion Injuries
· Rotator Cuff Syndrome (shoulder pain)
· Spinal Disc Injuries
· Sports Injuries
· Strains & Sprains
· Whiplash
· Work-related Injuries
· Motor Vehicle Collisions
· Traumatic Brain Injuries
Comprehensive Evaluation
All new patients will receive a complete history, review of systems and examination. The exam will consist of range of motion testing, neurological testing and various orthopedic maneuvers. Further testing may be needed in some cases, which could include blood tests, x-rays or advanced imaging such as an MRI or CT scans. Please note that further testing will only be performed on a case-by-case basis as deemed necessary by the doctor. Those that have conditions that are not amenable to chiropractic care will be sent to the proper specialist in order to receive care.
Chiropractic Adjustment
The small bones that make up the spine are called vertebrae. Problems such as pain can result when these vertebrae do not move properly. A chiropractic adjustment is given to help restore the normal motion in the spine.
Rehabilitation
Most people know that exercises are good for them, but many do not know that certain exercises can be a way to help rid yourself of pain and other problems. At Harmony Chiropractic Center, stretches and resistance training will be used along with other advanced exercises to help re-educate the muscles and restore proper functional movement.
Manual Therapy or Massage
Manual therapy is a type of treatment that focuses on the muscles and other soft tissues. It can involve anything from assisted stretching or focusing on those painful “knots” that we all get.
Massage therapy will be indicated in certain instances for some patients and they will be directed to a licensed massage therapist. Harmony Chiropractic Center has a working relationship with several local massage therapists.
Modalities
At Harmony Chiropractic Center, we use electric stimulation and intersegmental traction (IST) as complementary modalities to the main treatment. Electric stimulation is used to help reduce pain and increase blood flow to the injured area. Intersegmental traction helps to mobilize spinal joints to help them move more freely.
